GPS EMBEDDED GPR DATA VIEWED IN GOOGLE EARTH
All of our GPR data are embedded with GPS coordinates continuously through the duration of collection GPR files. These GPS coordinates can be outputted to a text/excel file on a desired distance interval such as one foot or meter. Differential GPR technology is used to enhance location accuracy of our GPR data to sub-meter and continuously updates to minimize error in location accuracy to allow for data collection at highway speeds and better recreation of an exact path of the GPR data.
The outputted GPS coordinates are then converted from a text/excel file into a KML file which includes latitude, longitude, and display name for each coordinate (such as distance into the GPR data file). The KML file can be opened in Google Earth in which the GPS coordinates and display name will be placed and labeled in their respective locations in the program. These coordinates will display the exact location and path of the GPR data collection.
The attached image shows an example KML file open in Google Earth with GPS coordinates every 50 feet on both directions of the highway. Coordinates of importance are shown with displayed labels. These labels can be edited in Google Earth or in a excel spreadsheet prior to conversion to KML.
