GPR & INFRARED DETECTION OVERLAY

UTILIZING GOOGLE EARTH IN KMZ FORMAT

Along with the provided detection maps in our report a KMZ google earth file can be included that contains all of the provided detection maps. Once opened in Google Earth, the detections will be overlaid as layers on their approximate coordinates. This allows for a better reference of the detections on a satellite image of the bridge/pavement. This can include multiple layers of detections which can be toggled on and off in the program.

Double clicking on one of the detection maps in Google Earth will "fly" into an optimal view of the map overlaid on the bridge. The view will have the same orientation as the maps found in the report. This helps with referencing between the two types of map. An example of a detection map opened in goolge earth can be seen below. Information about the bridge is shown as well which are embedded into the detection layer file of each bridge.

Since each layer file is positioned at its exact coordinates on the satellite imagery, no matter the angle or view in google earth that is used, the detections will be in their correct location. This is a useful feature for viewing the bridges in respect to its surrounding environment and helps give a perspective of the detections on the bridge.
